Jordanians protest in Amman 06/03/2011
JORDAN (by Continent Editor Asia) - While the whole world is looking at Lybia and the military conflict in the struggle between the supporters of Gaddafi and the opposition forces, Jordanians are demonstrating for a constitutional monarchy and reforms. Protests have been going on for 10 weeks already and are attended by pro- and anti-government movements. The reasons for the protests are similar to those in Egypt, Lybia or Tunesia. The downturn of the economy has lead to rising prices for food and other commodities and also the unemployment rate especially for the younger generation is high, leaving the Jordanians unsatisfied. Our colleagues at PressTV have summarized the events in Amman in the video below. |
