OKLAHOMA - Mary Fallin has signed her first piece of legislation into law as Oklahoma’s governor. 

Governor Mary Fallin signed into law Senate Bill 970 which will allow the Department of Corrections access to $5.25 million from a prison industries fund. Thanks to this bill the Department of Corrections will be able to avoid additional furloughs in the department.

Fallin made history in January when she was inaugurated as Oklahoma’s first-ever female governor.  Fallin served four years in the U. S. Congress and 12 years as lieutenant governor before being elected Oklahoma’s 27th governor.

Fallin pledged to lead a smaller, smarter and more cost efficient Oklahoma government.  “Oklahoma is ready and open for business”, Fallin said, as her focus is on creating a business climate that encourages the creation of new jobs and is a great business environment for all Oklahomans.
